(TAMPA, FL, 10/02/2013) - The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL) received a collect call from Glades County Jail today, where Tatiana Gruzdeva said she is being held in solitary confinement, and that immigration officers, along with three FBI agents, told her she was being deported because of her interviews with Boston magazine.

Gruzdeva is one of two people who assisted Ibragim Todashev's father, Abdulbaki Todashev, when he came to the US to seek justice for the killing of his son. Now both individuals who assisted Abdulbaki by taking him to interviews and meetings with prosecutors, have been arrested by the FBI.

Weeks ago, Todashev's Father and CAIR Florida Met with State Prosecutor Jeff Ashton and the US Attorney's Office

(TAMPA, FL, 8/20/13) - The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL), one of the nation's leading civil rights and advocacy groups, welcomed the state prosecutor's official review of the Todashev shooting by the FBI, and annouces Mr. Todashev's legal team.

CAIR-Florida, along with the law offices of Tucker/Ludin and The Barry A. Cohen Legal Group had several meetings with Mr. Todashev, the father of Ibragim Todashev who was gunned down by the FBI after 8 hours of interrogation. The purpose of the meetings is the pursuit of a legal case against the Bureau for the death of Mr. Todashev's son.

For all those seeking transparency, clarity and accountability from the US government, and those who have faith in the rule of law, the involvement of the State Prosecutor and US Attorney's Office is a welcomed step in the right direction.  CAIR-FL hopes the  state prosecutor's review will shed light as to why a cooperative, unarmed Florida resident was shot multiple times during interrogation by federal agents in his home. We have faith that the justice system will ensure that any wrong doing on behalf of the agents and agencies involved will be successfully prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law to ensure no officials feel they are above the law, and that all officers abide by the highest standards to keep our nation both free and secure.

Mr. Todashev and his legal team met with State Prosecutor Jeff Ashton today (8/20/2013) and met with the US Attorney's Office the following day (8/21/2013).
