(Miami, FL 6/20/2017- The Council on American-Islamic Relations - Florida (CAIR-Florida), the state's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization is partnering with the Islamic Foundation of South Florida to hold a Candlelight Vigil in light of the horrific murder of the Virginia Muslim Teenager, Nabra Hassanen.

On Sunday night, authorities reported that they found the beaten body of 17-year-old Nabra in a pond in Sterling, Virginia. Earlier that morning, Nabra and her friends had left All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) in Sterling to have breakfast at IHOP. On their way back to the mosque, Nabra was brutally assaulted and murdered by a motorist. Police have arrested and charged 22-year-old Darwin A. Martinez with the murder of Nabra Hassanen. However, authorities tweeted that they are not investigating the killing as a hate crime.
