PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Council for American-Islamic Relations chapter in Panama City Beach held a vigil for the three men who intervened against a man who made hateful comments toward two Muslim women on a train.

The incident happened in Portland, Oregon. The offender reportedly stabbed the three men, killing two of them.

People from different faiths gathered in solidarity and to express their condolences.

"They didn't find any difference in color or religion. They knew something wrong was happening and they stood up to defend those individuals, those women. And for that, we really are so grateful," said Hiba Rahim, CAIR's Northwest Florida Regional Coordinator.

"We have to support one another during these trying times," she said.
