Job Title: Programs & Policy Coordinator
Contract position, up to one (1) year
Reports To: Department Lead | Project-dependent Location: Jacksonville, FL (statewide support with focus on Jacksonville)
Hourly Rate: $24
Position Overview:
CAIR-Florida is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Programs & Policy Coordinator to join our team. This role is pivotal in building community relationships, managing outreach initiatives, and promoting CAIR-Florida’s mission through effective communication and event coordination. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and passionate about civil rights and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, community members, and organizations.
- Represent CAIR-Florida at local and regional events to enhance visibility and outreach.
- Programs & Outreach
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, workshops, and educational programs in collaboration with the Programs and Outreach Lead.
- Manage event logistics, marketing, and volunteer coordination.
- Assist in Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI) & gala support
- Policy & Government
- Assist in tracking state and local legislation relevant to civil rights, religious freedom, immigration, and related issues.
- Help organize and recruit for civic engagement efforts such as Muslim Capitol Day, voter registration drives, and advocacy trainings.
- Assist in coordinating advocacy hub campaigns, including action alerts, town halls, elected official meetings, and voter mobilization efforts.
- Tabling & Outreach
- Lead CAIR-Florida tabling efforts at Friday jumas, community events, and other events to distribute organizational materials and encourage community engagement
- Task Management and Communication

- Track and complete assigned outreach projects and tasks by established deadlines.
- Provide timely updates on project milestones and maintain open communication with supervisors and team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Community Development, or a related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in community outreach, event planning, or a related field.
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks.
- Must have strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.

Employment Details:
- Position Type: Contract, hourly, up to 40 hours per week
- NOTE: hours must be logged into Homebase
- Compensation: $24/hour
- Location: Based in Jacksonville, FL, with possible occasional statewide travel.
