PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - In light of the events in Charlottesville, Virginia, one Panama City Beach organization is condemning Saturday's events. The Council on American-Islamic Relations is speaking out against the violence in Virginia.

CAIR's Northwest Florida Regional Coordinator, Hiba Rahim, said this is an issue involving American patriotism.

"The Council on American-Islamic Relations definitely stands by all victims of discrimination. In this case, this is not a Muslim-related issue. This is an issue, an American issue. This is an issue of patriotism and we have to stand by our nation and stand in defense of all victims, no matter whether they're minority or not. In this case, we had a white woman who died as a result of these tragic incidents," Rahim said.

She said this is a time for people to speak out against hatred and bigotry and to come together.

Rahim told us the national Indivisible organization is asking for different organizations across the country to come together as Americans to stand for unity.
