After more than a twelve-year delay for vague “security checks,” Faizool Haniff Ali became a naturalized U.S. Citizen on March 24, 2016, after the Council on American-Islamic Relations Florida (CAIR Florida) filed a federal lawsuit on his behalf.

Ali was statutorily eligible for naturalization and this delay was extremely unreasonable and unlawful under federal law.

The lawsuit prompted USCIS to finally grant Ali naturalization and realize his dream of becoming a U.S. Citizen. “I am eternally grateful to CAIR Florida for their tenacious pursuit of my case. I want to thank every single person involved with CAIR Florida, from the directors to the assistants to the interns that have assisted me in any way, large or small, throughout this very long process.” he said.
