(TAMPA, FL, 7/25/2022) - The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida) today condemned a neo-Nazi protest during the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa and called on Governor DeSantis to openly and swiftly denounce the neo-Nazi extremists who demonstrated during the conservative summit.
Multiple media outlets have published articles, videos, and photos showing several inciters holding Nazi flags, posters of a swastika, and other signs with antisemitic imagery outside the Tampa Convention Center. The group was seen flying a flag bearing the slogan “DeSantis Country” along with a poster of the Florida Governor’s face. A video of the event also showed the same group using a racial slur against a Black protestor as well.

“This disturbing incident reminds us how close to our communities these hate groups operate. They expose the dangers posed by the rising tide of antisemitism, white supremacy, and racist hate,” said CAIR-Florda Executive Director Imam Abdullah Jaber. “We condemn this hateful act and urge Governor DeSantis to issue a swift, clear, and direct condemnation of these open displays of hate-speech endangering our religious and ethnic minorities.”
CAIR-Florida stands in solidarity with all those challenging xenophobia, anti-Semitism, anti-black racism, islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
