(TAMPA, FL, 8/29/24) – The Florida Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL) today said President Biden must “take the keys” away from far-right Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the death toll in the occupied West Bank reached at least 662 and Israel announced it will conduct ethnic cleansing operations in the West Bank similar to those underway in Gaza.

In a statement, CAIR Florida’s Policy Manager, Mari Marks said:
“Illegal settlers from Europe, the U.S. and Israel, have too long acted with impunity, violence, and destruction in the West Bank, with the full support and backing of the IDF and the Israeli government. Imagine for a moment, if suddenly people from other parts of the world suddenly decided they wanted the Florida panhandle and took it by force (again), killing Floridians and forcing them off their land, and the European Union did nothing, but shake their heads. (Again, because obviously that has already happened once).
Marks added: “Not only have their actions, for decades, gone against the Geneva Convention; but the United States government continues to do nothing but say they are “concerned,” propose minor sanctions on U.S. citizens participating, just to get pressured and scared off by Israeli government and supporters within the U.S. As AIPAC hit $100 million of election interference in the United States, our government does nothing about the escalating murders and land theft. Money is King here. The U.S. traded one king for another.”
Israel has already slaughtered more than 40,000 people in Gaza – mostly women and children – and has systematically destroyed the civilian infrastructure in Gaza (and now in the West Bank), blocked humanitarian aid in a campaign of forced starvation, and forcibly-displaced the vast majority of the population, often multiple times.
