(TAMPA, Fla., 3/8/2025) – The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL), the state’s largest Muslim civil rights organization, today announced the appointment of Hiba Rahim as its first Deputy Executive Director.

For several years, Rahim has served as CAIR Florida’s outreach coordinator, regional manager, and policy manager.

As regional manager, Rahim helped establish CAIR Florida’s first staff presence in North Florida, spearheading the organization’s expansion across the state. She also led multiple successful voter mobilization campaigns.

In a statement, CAIR-FL Executive Director Imam Abdullah Jaber said:

“CAIR Florida proudly appoints Hiba Rahim as our first-ever Deputy Executive Director. Hiba has stood on the front lines – engaging lawmakers, mobilizing voters, and ensuring that our community’s voice is not just heard, but respected.

“This appointment comes at a critical moment when we are witnessing coordinated efforts to silence and intimidate American Muslims and allies on our campuses, in our workplaces, through racist legislation, and mass doxxing campaigns. This is an orchestrated attack on our rights and our very existence in public life.

“Leadership in times like these demands both wisdom and fearlessness, and Hiba brings both. In this role, Hiba will continue to lead that fight – unwavering, unafraid, and committed to justice, God willing.”

Incoming Deputy Executive Director Hiba Rahim said:

“America is witnessing unprecedented changes that many of us are deeply concerned about. This new role is an honor, but it is also an immense responsibility. For years, CAIR Florida has worked with government agencies, legal systems, and communities to challenge injustice.

“We will take that work to new heights by strengthening our alliances, informing and mobilizing our community, and implementing strategic action. I look forward to engaging with our community, organizing together, and pushing for systemic change.”
