(TAMPA, FL. 1/4/2013) -- The suspect of Wednesday's Walmart hate crime shooting was arrested Thursday night.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office received several tips, including one that the man was staying at a hotel near State Road 54 and Interstate 75 in Pasco.

A 25-year-old man, identified by Pasco County Sheriff's Office Detectives as Daniel P. Quinnell, was arrested at the hotel and was charged with aggravated battery.

CAIR-Florida said the two people attacked in the incident were harassed with racial slurs, including shouting "n**ger with a white girl," as they were leaving a local Walmart at 3 a.m. Wednesday. A police report indicates that the shooting victim was asked if he is Middle Eastern and whether he is Muslim. He reportedly answered "no" to each question.

The attacker fired more than 20 pellets, deputies said.

"The victim said to me, he said, 'I thought that was it,'" Pasco County Sheriff's Office Detective Lisa Schoneman said. "He said I thought I was dead, my life was over and this was all it was going to be."

Quinnell was being booked into the Land O' Lakes jail early Friday.
