(Tampa, FL, 9/25/17) The Council on American-Islamic Relations-Florida (CAIR-Florida), the state's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, today condemned President Trump's latest iteration of the Muslim Ban and encouraged those impacted to reach out for help. Simultaneous Press Conferences are scheduled throughout Florida for Tuesday, September 26th.

"This is exactly what we warned about. First they start with Muslims, then they target other groups, both as to appear not to be engaging in religious persecution and to limit the immigration of more people of color to America. Sorry, Mr. President, but you don't get a pass on racism by banning more minorities," said Hassan Shibly, CAIR-Florida's Chief Executive Director.

CAIR National said that the new Executive Order places restrictions on travel to the United States from eight countries and comes as the previous ban on visitors from six Muslim-majority countries was set to expire. Trump kept restrictions on five of the six Muslim-majority nations - Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen - and added new restrictions on visitors from Chad, North Korea, and Venezuela.

CAIR-Florida is working with partners to provide Know Your Rights meetings throughout Florida as well as to organize protests and rallies around the latest Muslim Ban.

CAIR National recently launched an app to share critical Know Your Rights information and to simplify the process for reporting hate crimes and bias incidents. CAIR National is urging Muslims to download the app and utilize this resource to stay informed and empowered.
