Muslim Inmates Advocate
CAIR-Florida invites you to join us as a Muslim Inmates Advocacy Intern for our 2024 Summer Internship program. In this role, you will contribute to our efforts in advocating for the rights and well-being of Muslim inmates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in outreach to and communication with incarcerated individuals.
- Support in addressing issues related to religious accommodations for Muslim inmates.
- Contribute to research on prison conditions and inmates’ rights.
- Collaborate with the Legal and Advocacy Teams on inmate advocacy initiatives.
- Assist in organizing events and programs related to inmates’ rights.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Law, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Interest in inmates’ rights and advocacy.
- Strong communication and empathy skills.
- Commitment to CAIR-FL’s mission and values.
Time Commitment:
Internships typically last 10-12 weeks, depending on whether they are full-time or part-time. Full-time internships require a commitment of 35 hours per week, while part-time internships necessitate a commitment of 20 hours per week.
Stipend:
A stipend is provided for eligible students who do not receive course credit or external funding and possess lawful authorization to work.
