Volunteer Manager Job Description

Join the dynamic team at CAIR-Florida, the leading Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, as a Volunteer Manager. In this role, you will be instrumental in coordinating and managing the engagement of volunteers to support our mission. Working closely with various teams, you’ll ensure effective volunteer recruitment, training, and retention strategies to enhance our organizational impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Program Development:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer program aligned with CAIR-Florida’s organizational goals, considering the need for flexibility due to frequent travel across Florida.
    • Design and execute strategies for volunteer recruitment, training, and recognition, taking into account the diverse demographics of Muslim Americans in Florida.
    • Ensure that the volunteer program reflects and supports CAIR-Florida’s mission to serve the Florida Muslim community, keeping it front and center in all activities.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding:
    • Actively recruit volunteers through various channels, including online platforms, community events, and mosques, with a focus on reaching Muslim Americans across Florida, considering the need for flexibility due to frequent travel across Florida.
    • Facilitate orientation and onboarding processes to integrate volunteers into the organization effectively, including remote options for those unable to attend in-person sessions due to travel commitments.
  • Training and Development:
    • Coordinate training sessions to equip volunteers with the skills and knowledge required for their roles, considering the need for flexibility in scheduling to accommodate travel obligations.
    • Provide ongoing support and development opportunities to ensure volunteers feel equipped to engage and educate diverse groups of Muslim Americans effectively.
  • Communication and Relationship Building:
    • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with volunteers, utilizing digital platforms and regular check-ins to ensure their engagement and satisfaction, even during periods of frequent travel.
    • Build strong relationships with volunteers, understanding their motivations and cultural backgrounds, and connecting them with meaningful opportunities that align with CAIR-Florida’s mission.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Collaborate with different teams to identify volunteer needs for specific projects or events, taking into consideration the geographical spread of volunteers across Florida.
    • Ensure timely and efficient deployment of volunteers to support organizational initiatives, including the ability to mobilize volunteers for events or projects with short notice, especially during periods of increased activity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, volunteer management).
  • 3+ years of experience in volunteer management, community engagement, or related roles.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire volunteers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to a fast-paced setting.
