CAIR-Florida and South Florida Multi-Faith Leaders to Join Voices Calling for a Ceasefire in Gaza

(MIAMI, 12/18/23) – On Tuesday Dec. 19 (11 a.m.) – the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida) and South Florida Multi-Faith Leaders plan to join multi-faith voices calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The faith leaders will be calling on our government officials to do everything possible to bring about an immediate cease fire in Gaza, where almost 20,000 people have been killed and over 1 million people have been forcibly displaced – constituting genocide and ethnic cleansing.
A Palestinian resident of South Florida will also be speaking at the press conference about the realities and conditions on the ground through personal accounts from his direct family members in Gaza.

In a compelling statement, CAIR-Florida Executive Director, Imam Abdullah Jaber, said:

“As clergy and servants of our community, we fervently join our voices and prayers in an urgent plea for an immediate Gaza ceasefire to protect all innocent lives. He added: “Faith compels us to speak truth to power, exposing the stark reality that this genocide thrives on our nation’s resources and our tax dollars — fueled even more by our silence. It has inflicted unprecedented levels of death, an atrocity unmatched in recent memory, claiming the lives of children, journalists, health workers, and innocent civilians – an unfathomable toll of 20,000+ lives and counting, the majority of them innocent children. Our collective duty demands resolute action to halt this grave injustice.”
