CAIR Florida's Chief Executive Director Addressed Pinellas County Dems on American-Islamic Relations

(TALLAHASSEE, FL, 2/25/2016) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations Florida (CAIR FL), the state's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, is pleased to announce the launching of a series of talks to educate political parties, caucuses, and clubs, regardless of party affiliation, regarding American-Islamic relations and today's political and social climate.

Last Thursday, February 25th, CAIR FL's CED, Hassan Shibly, met with Pinellas County's Democratic Party members at the St. Petersburg Marriott in Clearwater, Florida. Shibly gave an overview of American-Islamic relations as they currently stand including the turmoil of recent events. He also spoke about how the political discourse, especially among the presidential candidates, is negatively affecting American-Islamic relationships. He stated: "We hope to reach out to as many political organizations as possible throughout the State. It is an intrinsic part of civic engagement to educate all those participating in the political process, regardless of their party affiliation, and CAIR FL is taking the lead on these endeavors."
